The world is in a constant state of flux. People develop, technologies develop, and everything undergoes change. Likewise, there were changes and growth in the sectors of advertising too. Advertising is the promotion of products by their companies in order to increase their earnings and to make the product known among people. They play a very important role in the growth of business in the present day. Ads introduce new products to people and when people buy them it helps in the growth of the company. These can be promoted through various platforms like television, radio, newspaper, etc.

Advertisements are found to exist from the late 3000 Bc onwards. According to the research and findings, political and religious details have been inscribed onto papyrus sheets which were used as paper for writing down literature and documents in the past. These were found in the city of Thebes.

Then came a time when articles were inscribed on the wall. The volcanic eruption of the city of Pompeii left the remains of wall graffiti that was written down on the walls of the whitewashed buildings.

The establishment of the printing era brought vast changes. This was in the early period of the middle age and people were more educated than before. There were people doing business who wanted to improve their income, so they looked for ways to promote their companies and products.

The first printed advertisement was introduced by the Chinese Tang dynasty. The market wanted a trademark for their products and with further monitoring, the authorities produced the first printed advertisement. Another printed advertisement introduced during this period was the promotions that were printed on the copper printing plates.

Advertising gained more reach with the introduction of the movable printing press by Gutenberg. He established a press in different parts of the country and people started to add advertisements in these printed books and magazines.

Next was the industrial period when flyers and trade cards were introduced by manufacturers as a result of the introduction of the press. Later on, ads started to be introduced in continuously issued newspapers.

In 1786 William Taylor introduced the first advertising agency in London. Later a newspaper known as the La Presse was introduced where the reader had to pay a lesser amount as the rate was subsidized by the ads. The first advertising agency in America was also introduced in 1841 by Robert Palmer.

Things became much more simple with the introduction of radio and televisions. By the beginning of the 20th century, the first paid radio advertising was introduced through WEAF in New York. Radio ads started gaining importance with time.

After the smoke of World war II went down the era of television ads rose. This was then found to be one of the major ways in promoting products. Biow company was the first to introduce television ads in the year 1941.

The period from the 1960s to the 1980s was considered the golden era of advertising. This was the time when revolutions took place and people started to think about much higher and more beneficial technologies and ideas. This helped them to earn a higher budget.

By the 1990s the WWW (World Wide Web) was introduced. This was when the first world digital advertisement was produced by HotWired in 1994. This introduced banners of VOLVO, IBM, etc.

There was a change from static ads to dynamic ads. Several companies started introducing different programs and platforms for advertising like DoubleClick and Google Ads, etc.

By the year 2007 advertising was made possible through social media apps like Facebook. It further spread to various other social media like Youtube, Instagram, Twitter, etc. By 2019 Facebook's revenue increased to about 70 billion.

The next growth that could occur in advertising could be with the introduction of artificial intelligence. Technologies are developing day by day. Statistics and studies have concluded the growth in the coming years.
